ARCHIVED - The cold sets in: The Region of Murcia will be close to 0 degrees Celsius this weekend
This weekend will signal the start of rapidly falling temperatures ahead of the start of December next week
The end of November looms, and it’s shaping up to be very different from how we started the month. The high temperatures we had at the beginning of November in Murcia, which created a strange sort of warm autumn couldn’t be further from our minds this week as we battle strong winds and falling temperatures.
In fact, this coming weekend may well be the coldest we’ve had in a long time, with weather forecasters updating their predictions and temperatures now expected to drop as low as 0 degrees Celsius in some municipalities of the Murcia Region.
In central-northern towns like Caravaca de la Cruz, Moratalla and Bullas, minimum temperatures at the coldest point of the night are forecast to fall by more than 10 degrees in a matter of days. The lowest point will be reached on Saturday November 26 with 3ºC. The highs, on the other hand, will oscillate around 20 degrees, figures that will drop notably at the beginning of next week as we wave goodbye to the month of November.
The coldest places this weekend, however, will be Yecla and Jumilla, which will have the lowest minimum temperatures in the whole of the Region of Murcia. Although it won’t be rainy at all, the next few days are expected to be particularly cold: thermometers could reach between 1 and 2ºC from Saturday onwards. While maximum temperatures will remain above 19ºC for a few days at least, these will also drop from next week onwards, down to highs of around 14ºC.
Coats and scarves will also be needed in Cartagena, around the Mar Menor, the south of the Region and in central Murcia, such as in Murcia capital city, where maximum temperatures from Saturday onwards will be 20ºC and the minimum 8ºC.
