These are all the flight routes from Murcia Corvera Airport this autumn and winter season 2023-24
Murcia airport will fly to nine cities in five countries as of this November, fewer routes than it had last winter
The flight schedule to and from the Region of Murcia International Airport in Corvera has been released for the autumn and winter season 2023/24, with the number of destinations reduced significantly from the summer period which officially finishes at the end of October.
Corvera airport will have connections to nine destinations in five different countries from November 1, when the high season ends to give way to autumn-winter.
The number of destinations is reduced during this period because it is not profitable for airlines to continue to run connections during the winter when fewer tourists and visitors fly out to Murcia.
The announcement of the autumn/winter schedule comes just a week after it was revealed that there would be a new international flight destination added to the roster for summer 2024, with a flight connection between Murcia and Porto in Portugal.
Which flights will be lost in Murcia this winter?
For this winter season, the number of routes offered by the International Airport of the Region of Murcia will be less than half of what it has at the moment.
The airport currently has connections with 22 destinations in seven different countries, but this will only last until October 31. From November 1, 13 of these flights will be discontinued.
This autumn-winter season will also see the Murcia airport have fewer flight connections than it did in the 2022/23 winter season, when there were 11 destinations in six different countries.
This reduction is due to the loss of the three TUI fly Belgium routes connecting Murcia with Belgium – Antwerp, Bruges/Ostend and Charleroi airports – and the loss of the route to Casablanca (Morocco), offered by Air Arabia.
However, Air Arabia maintains its route to Oujda in Morocco, while Ryanair will keep its flights to Dublin in Ireland and to Birmingham and Manchester in the United Kingdom over the winter.
Easyjet will continue to operate flights between Murcia and London Gatwick airport. The flight to Prague organised by the Mapa Tours tour operator for the long weekend in December will also be added to the list.
The list is completed by Binter’s route to the Canary Islands and the two major additions for this new season, flights to Madrid and Barcelona by Volotea, which will be starting in December.
These Madrid and Barcelona connections will have 126 flights, 20,000 seats and will be operational until March 20, 2024.
Over Christmas, to adapt to the festive season, from December 1, 2023 to January 9, 2024, Volotea will connect Murcia with Madrid on Tuesdays and Fridays, and with Barcelona on Wednesdays and Sundays. From January 10 to March 10, Volotea will connect Murcia with Madrid and Barcelona on Mondays and Fridays.
The Madrid and Barcelona flights are intended to be permanent. Once the 2024 winter season is over, both routes will have a new schedule focused on the summer season.
The winter season will end in March 2024, from which point there will be an increase in the number of destinations once again.
