ARCHIVED - Thieves drive car through petrol station window in Librilla
The robbers used the so-called moon landing method to burgle the Murcia gas station
The Guardia Civil have launched a search to locate two hooded men who robbed a petrol station in Librilla in the early hours of Sunday morning, January 9, using the so-called moon landing method of attack.
The suspects arrived at the Cepsa garage, located at exit 594 of the A-7 motorway, at around 5am in two stolen vehicles. The thieves then used one of the cars, a Volkswagen Passat, to drive through the window at the front store, leaving the car half inside the shop and destroying shelves and furniture inside.
Once inside the premises, the thieves grabbed a staff member by her hair and threw her to the ground, whilst threatening her safety and shouting at her not to move.
The robbers went straight to the cash register and stole an undisclosed amount of cash before fleeing in the second vehicle towards Murcia. Hours later, the car was discovered abandoned and burned out in the municipality of Alcantarilla.
The 44-year old employee was treated at the scene for a panic attack but did not have to go to hospital.
