This beach on the Cartagena coast is vying for title of Best Beach in Spain 2024
One Cartagena beach has been shortlisted to the top ten in Spain
Condé Nast Traveller readers have selected Calblanque beach in Cartagena as one of the top ten finalists for the best beach in Spain. Competing against nine other charming locations, Calblanque is a true paradise and a strong contender for the title.
Previous winners include Playa de Bolonia in Cádiz (2023), Valdevaqueros in Cádiz (2021), San Antonio del Mar in Asturias (2020) and Papagayo in Lanzarote (2019). Voting for the best beach of 2024 is currently underway and will close on June 23 at 11.59pm.
As a representative of the Region of Murcia, Condé Nast Traveller readers have selected the Cartagena beach of Calblanque as the best in the Community.
Previously, Cartagena’s Cala Cortina was selected as the best beach in the Region in 2023. This year, supporters describe Calblanque as one of Murcia’s “hidden paradises” for its extensive sandy shore and tranquil waters. Located in the Calblanque Natural Park, the beach is guarded by arid mountains and surrounded by native flora and fauna, creating a wild Eden where privacy and tranquillity are paramount.
The CN Traveller team of editors previously toured the Spanish coasts to create a special selection of the 50 best beaches to visit in Spain in 2024. This list featured beaches for all tastes, including urban, hidden, tourist, virgin, picturesque, volcanic and paradisaical locations.
Readers began voting on June 5 for their favourite beach among the four selected by CN Traveller's team of specialists within each Autonomous Community. The finalist beaches (one per Autonomous Community) now compete for the gold medal.
The ten finalists for the Best Beach in Spain 2024 award are:
- Playa de Valdevaqueros (Cádiz)
- Cala Saona (Formentera)
- Playa de Famara (Lanzarote)
- Playa de Los Locos (Cantabria)
- Cala Fonda (Tarragona)
- Playa Norte (Castellón)
- Las Catedrales Beach (Lugo)
- Zarautz Beach (Guipúzcoa)
- Poo Beach (Llanes)
- Calblanque Beach (Cartagena)
