Two arrested in Albudeite for illegally registering foreigners on the Padron
The arrests come shortly after the town was embroiled in a political scandal

Murcia Police have arrested a 32-year-old woman and a 47-year-old man, both of Spanish nationality, for illegally registering foreign nationals in Spain and “favouring illegal immigration,” according to a statement.
The pair are accused of taking money from several foreign citizens in the town of Albudeite in central Murcia in exchange for putting them on the ‘padrón’, the official town register.
Incidentally, this sleepy village is the same place where a candidate for mayor in the upcoming elections was arrested for purportedly trying to buy votes from foreigners and drug addicts.
Police were alerted to the foreigner registration fraud when the town hall noted that an unusually large number of registrations were being made at the same address, which showed “clear signs of irregularity”.
The suspects had been recruiting foreigners in an irregular situation in the country since 2021, offering to register them at a property they had inherited in exchange for 400 euros per person.
