Until October 1 Marinera tapas routes in different areas of the Region of Murcia
This typical Murcia and Cartagena tapa is among the most representative of the Region
Among the most popular tapas in the Region of Murcia is the emblematic “marinera”, which consists of a generous portion of Russian salad balanced on a “rosquilla” breadstick and topped with an anchovy, and in celebration of this delicacy the Asociación Amigos de la Marinera (Asomarimur) is organizing a series of three Marinera tapas routes in different parts of the Region between mid-August and the end of September.
Unfortunately, the first route in Águilas, Mazarrón and the inland shore of the Mar Menor is about to end (on September 3) but there is still time to enjoy a marinera and a small beer (a quinto) at any of the establishments taking part in the event for just 2.80 euros. The list can be found at the Asomarimur site here, where votes for the best traditional and/or “reinvented” marinera can be registered.
The second route and competition is being held from September 4 to 17 in Yecla, Jumilla, Cieza, Abarán, Abanilla, Caravaca de la Cruz, Cehegín, Moratalla, Calasparra, Mula, Pliego, Bullas, Villanueva, Ulea, Ojós, Blanca, Ricote and Archena, and the final one, from September 18 to October 1, includes hostelries in Murcia, Alcantarilla, Librilla, Alhama de Murcia, Totana, Aledo, Fuente Álamo, Torre Pacheco, Ceutí, Lorquí, Campos del Río, Albudeite, Beniel, Santomera, Alguazas, Molina de Segura, Las Torres de Cotillas, Puerto Lumbreras, Lorca and Cartagena.
