ARCHIVED - Vibrantly painted submarine artworks in the Cartagena Nautical Museum
The small customized submarines have been designed by local artists as a tribute to the famous inventor Isaac Peral
The Nautical Museum in Cartagena has added 15 small replica submarines to its collection, which will be displayed next to the original Peral submarine in the Isaac Peral showroom.
The 15 submarines are an open interpretation of the original designed by the famous inventor and have been custom designed in different styles by artists from Cartagena.
This exhibit aims to raise the visibility of local artists in the rest of the Region of Murcia, and the town hall maintains that this is money well spent as the artworks can also be used to promote Cartagena in the rest of Spain they say, as the Town Hall is Cartagena is currently negotiating with Nautical museums in Madrid and Cádiz to put the submarines on display there too.
The exhibit will be open to the public until June 26 in the Nautical Museum and is a tribute to the 170th anniversary of the birth of Isaac Peral.
