Wet and wild weekend ahead: Spain weather forecast Feb 27-March 2
Southern Spain can expect widespread rain and plummeting temperatures this weekend

Weather outlook on Sunday March 2
Carnival season begins in Spain in early March but this year, the festivities could be threatened by the heavy rain forecast up and down the country. According to the State Meteorological Agency (Aemet), a storm will sweep in from the west of Spain this Thursday February 27, creating unsettled weather that will persist through the weekend.
Thursday February 27

The storm will approach Spain from early morning, leaving abundant rain along the entire Atlantic coast, but Andalucía will bear the brunt. The skies will briefly clear in the afternoon but overall, Thursday will be a rather dark and dreary day across Spain.
Maximum temperatures will tend to fall in the southwest of the country with few changes forecast elsewhere.
Friday February 28

Friday will again be very overcast in the southwest of Spain, where light rain is expected throughout the day. The rain will turn stormy in parts of Cadiz, Malaga and Huelva, where yellow weather warnings have been activated from early morning.
Daytime temperatures will plummet in the south and light overnight frosts are expected in mountainous areas.
Saturday March 1

As we head into the weekend, the unstable weather will persist. Cloudy or overcast skies are forecast on Saturday, with widespread showers affecting the entire south-east of the country, along with the Balearic Islands.
Daytime temperatures should increase by a degree or two, but it will still be quite chilly compared to the last couple of weeks, with the highs topping out at a very cool 13ºC in Murcia and 15ºC in Alicante. Malaga, on the other hand, should record temperatures in the low 20s.
Sunday March 2

The situation of instability is expected to persist with predominantly cloudy or overcast skies and rain affecting the Balearic Islands and a large part of the southeastern half of the country on Sunday.
Temperatures are also expected to fall again, leading to widespread overnight frost.
