ARCHIVED - Yellow heat warning for temperatures of 38 in Murcia, Wednesday, August 4
After a cooler start to August temperatures in the Region of Murcia are on the rise
Following a blisteringly hot July that brought heavy thunderstorms along with soaring temperatures, the Region of Murcia welcomed much cooler temperatures at the beginning of August. However, just mere days later, the State Meteorological Agency (Aemet) has issued a yellow weather warning for extreme heat which could see the thermometer jump to 38 degrees in some municipalities on Wednesday afternoon, August 4.
Wednesday will start off with some high clouds that will gradually clear through the afternoon, giving way to blue skies. The temperatures are also set to rise as the day goes on, more pronounced inland than on the coast, with a light south-westerly wind.
Murcia will not be the only region feeling the heat this Wednesday, however, with Catalonia on alert for storms and warnings for high temperatures in place also for the regions of Valencia and Andalucía.
In the Region of Murcia, the yellow warning is in place for the Vega Media del Segura, in and around the regional capital, for temperatures up to a sweltering 38 degrees between 2pm and 9pm, and similar conditions are forecast in the south of the province of Alicante.
Night-time temperatures are also set to vary, with Caravaca and Yecla forecast to enjoy a balmy 16 – 17 degrees, while Cartagena can expect evening temperatures of 24 degrees.
Maximum temperatures in the Region of Murcia on Wednesday, August 4:
Caravaca de la Cruz: 36 degrees
Cartagena: 30 degrees
Lorca: 37 degrees
