ARCHIVED - More than 3.9 million Andalusian residents have received first Covid vaccine
The Andalusia region has administered more than 96 per cent of all vaccines delivered so far, one of the highest levels in Spain and has repeatedly called for more vaccines to be made available
The latest figures published by the Andalusian regional government on Wednesday June 16 indicate that the region is tantalisingly close to having administered four million first doses, with 3,945,926 residents of the region having received a first dose of one of the four coronavirus vaccines.
This represents 55.87 per cent of those aged 16 or over living in the region.
2,336,081people are now fully immunised having received either two doses of Pfizer, Moderna or AstraZeneca or a single dose of the monodose Janssen vaccine.
This represents 33.07 per cent of those aged 16 or over living in the region.
In total, the health service has administered 6,116,399 doses and has used up over 96 per cent of all the stocks delivered to the region to date.
On Wednesday the president of the region once again called for more doses to be allocated to Andalucía.
Unfortunately, Andalusia currently has the highest level of Covid of any region in Spain, so the regional government is keen to ensure that restrictions remain in place in a bid to control the further spread of the virus.
Yesterday the regional government announced that it would be vaccinating all 11,000 Erasmus students leaving the region to study abroad this year, ensuring that they were fully vaccinated before departing from the region at the end of the summer.
