ARCHIVED - 19 Orihuela businesses recognised with Quality Tourism Badge awards
In addition, 16 tourists services in the Vega Baja town, Alicante province, have retained their certificates in 2022

Orihuela was one of the first towns in the Valencia region to recognise the efforts of companies and establishments that promote quality tourism, and this year marks its 10th anniversary of doing so, in addition to the Certified Quality Tourism Badge (Sicted) project on the Costa Blanca.
In the last decade, the number of establishments and services certified with this quality seal has been increasing progressively, reaching 72 with the addition of 19 in the 2022 round of awards.
During a special presentation ceremony at the Orihuela Yacht Club, attended by the manager of Restaurant La Barraca de Campoamor, Enrique Tarraga – winner of the II National Award Sicted in the category of Most Outstanding Tourism Service Improvement Plan – the regional secretary of Tourism, Francesc Colomer, thanked all the winners "for understanding that quality cannot be something abstract", adding that "Sicted represents the victory of a team better than any other program".
"A successful tourist destination is one that brings happiness to others, not through luck or coincidence, but through planned, measured and recognised work," he said.
Meanwhile, Orihuela Mayor Carolina Gracia pledged to "continue to promote and raise awareness around the world" of the potential of Torrevieja as a tourist destination and all that it can offer to visitors.
"Orihuela has important attractions, we are vital to the history of the Mediterranean and we have companies that add value," she said.
Amongst the 72 distinguished services are La Finca Golf, Las Ramblas Golf, Campo de Golf Villamartín and Dublin House, as well as other bars and cafés, shops, restaurants, museums and other tourist attractions open to the public.
Orihuela's distinguished services represent 12.54% of the total in Alicante province and 5.82% of those recognised in the Valencia region as a whole. Each establishment has a badge which is displayed on the premises.
