ARCHIVED - 2 beaches in Balearic Islands the most searched for on Google Street View
The sandy shores of Ibiza and Mallorca were the most viewed in all of Spain
In honour of its 15th birthday, Google Street View has released a list of the most searched for destinations this year and in Spain, two pristine beaches in the holiday hotspot of the Balearic Islands have made the top five.
The platform’s results give a good indication of the interest certain areas hold for travellers, and given the fact that Ibiza and Mallorca are some of the most popular places for sun-seeking Brits, it should come as no surprise that two of their sandy shores made the cut.
Playa d'en Bossa in Ibiza
Featuring 2,700 metres of flawless coastline, Playa d’en Bossa is the longest and one of the most visited beaches on the island of Ibiza. Located within the city itself, accessing this piece of paradise couldn’t be easier, and the surrounding area offers something for everyone, from trendy all-night bars and clubs to laid-back restaurants and a family-friendly water park.
Cala Major in Mallorca
Measuring just 200-metres in length and surrounded by towering cliffs, Cala Major is considered to be one of the best beaches on the island. It is located very close Palma and its natural beauty, in addition to its easy access, make it one of the favourites for tourists and residents alike.
After the two Balearic Island beaches, the next most viewed in Spain were Cala s'Alguer in Girona, Playa la Malagueta in Málaga and Cala Moraig in Alicante.
Overall, Spain came in sixth in the ranking of most visited country on Google Street View between May 1 last year and April 30 2022, with Catalonia and Andalucía the most popular autonomous communities.
