ARCHIVED - 29 degrees in Murcia on Tuesday before rain returns to the Costa Cálida later in the week
An abrupt change in the weather is expected to hit southern Spain on Wednesday
The weather in the Costa Cálida is set to provide something of a roller-coaster ride over the remainder of this week, with bright sunshine and summery temperatures on Tuesday giving way to far cooler conditions and rain as the weekend approaches.
According to the forecasters at Aemet, the warm weather of the Easter weekend will continue on Tuesday with cloudless skies accompanied by afternoon highs ranging from 20 degrees on the coast to around 26 in Lorca, Caravaca de la Cruz and Yecla and 29 in the city of Murcia. However, an abrupt change is expected on Wednesday as a cold front sweeps across Spain, and maximums are likely to drop to 13 in Yecla and the Altiplano area and just 17 or 18 in the rest of the Region of Murcia.
By Thursday the likelihood is that light showers will begin to arrive in the Region as temperatures drop by another degree or two, and on Friday 9th April the cloud cover is expected to become heavier as rain becomes more generalized and night-time lows fall to between 4 degrees in Yecla and around 11 on the coast in Cartagena.
