64-year-old woman dies while swimming in stormy seas on Murcia beach
The woman drowned while swimming in Águilas, in the middle of a storm
A 64-year-old woman died on Wednesday afternoon, October 9, while she was swimming in the sea at the Playa del Matalentisco beach, in the Murcia municipality of Águilas.
The woman was not breathing when she was pulled from the water and the paramedics that turned up performed CPR to try to resuscitate her, but unsuccessfully.
This Wednesday afternoon was a particularly bad time to go swimming in the sea as part of the coastline of the Region of Murcia was on yellow alert for strong winds and high waves caused by the tail-end of Hurricane Kirk coming across the Atlantic Ocean from North America.
