70-year-old woman dies while swimming at Mar Menor beach
The septuagenarian had a heart attack while she was in the waters off Los Narejos

A 70-year-old woman has died this Tuesday July 9 after suffering a cardiorespiratory arrest while she was swimming in the Mar Menor, just off the beach of Los Narejos in Los Alcázares, as reported by the Emergency Coordination Centre.
The incident took place at 11.46am, when the woman was pulled out of the water unconscious. Lifeguards performed CPR on the shore, and medical staff and ambulances wee immediately on the scene.
Despite all their best efforts, however, they were not able to save the woman and she was pronounced dead.
There are an unfortunate number of deaths and drownings on beaches and around swimming pools every year. It is important not to go in the water if you feel at all faint, and to seek immediate medical assistance at the first sign of trouble.
