A bit cooler, but not for long: Spain weather forecast this week April 9-14
Next weekend will be another hot one in Spain, with unseasonably warm temperatures possibly setting more heat records
This Tuesday April 9, slightly cooler weather returns to Spain but will be short-lived. From Wednesday 10 onwards, temperatures will begin to rise again, reaching back up to temperatures of nearly 30ºC over the weekend, and new records could be set.
We start the week under the spell of another storm or high impact squall worthy of its own name, called Storm Pierrick (the next names on the list to look out for, in alphabetical order, will be Storm Renata and then Storm Sancho).
Pierrick will not have a massive impact in Spain, but it is sending a weather front that has already passed through the west of mainland Spain and is bringing some wind and rain to the central strip. It is on its way down to the Mediterranean coast, where there is also still quite a lot of haze from the calima in some parts and very high temperatures. When the storm front arrives this Tuesday and Wednesday, with windy episodes if not a lot of rain, it will sweep away the haze in the south and cause a sharp drop in temperatures in the area.
Frost returns to the mountains of Spain, especially in the north, where the rains will be moving across on Tuesday to leave sunny skies and rising temperatures from Wednesday onwards.
With the arrival of the anticyclone after Storm Pierrick, we will have another very hot weekend, with unseasonably warm temperatures for April.
This past weekend, some heat records were already set for April: Gijón with 27.2ºC, Melilla with 30.9ºC, Almería with 32.1ºC and Palma with 30ºC. And it will be especially hot these next few days in the Canary Islands, well above the corresponding temperatures for this time of year.
