Albergue Juvenil in San Pedro del Pinatar

A purpose built educational and activity centre for young people

The Albergue Juvenil in San Pedro del Pinatar is located at Avenida del Mojón, 37, just a short distance from Albergue Juvenil in San Pedro del Pinatarboth the Mediterranean and the Mar Menor and also ideally situated for the regional park which includes San Pedro’s salt flats. This makes it ideal not only for general relaxation but also for year-round water sports, hiking, cycling and other activities in the great outdoors, and the active tourism provided is popular among families, schools, companies, clubs and other groups for camping and other social and sporting activities.
The Albergue is designed very much for school groups and is set-up to offer all the facilities needed by visiting groups for short activity and educational breaks in the municipality.

Among the facilities at the Albergue Juvenil in San Pedro del Pinatar are the following:
18 rooms with bathroom and shower, three of them adapted for special needs, with a total of 66 beds (soon to be extended to 126).
•    Community areas including play area, reading room, games room and TV room.
•    Restaurant/dining-room.
•    Laundry
•    Gardens
•    Multi-sports court and changing rooms
•    Conference room
•    Classroom
•    Computer room and computer hire
•    Car parking
•    Wifi
The natural environment of San Pedro del Pinatar includes the 856-hectare regional park of the salt flats, which have been used for salt production since Roman times and are now home to a unique eco-system. The best known residents here are perhaps the flamingoes, but a host of other bird, fish, reptile and plant species can also be found.

The walking and cycling paths in the park also make it possible to visit the traditional “encañizadas” fishing areas where the Mediterranean meets the Mar Menor at the Punta de Algas, which were first introduced by the Moors, and guests can also visit the “Las Salinas” centre and bird-watching observation points.

Nearby are the Charcos de Lo Pagán, curative mud baths which are the product of prolonged exposure to the hot Mediterranean sun and the high salinity of the Mar Menor and which are popular among those suffering from rheumatism, arthritis, gout, skin ailments and other complaints. The mud here contains high percentages of calcium, magnesium, potassium and fluorine, and the very fine sand particles enhance its curative properties.

Another natural attraction in the area, of course, is the beaches: San Pedro boasts 14 kilometres of coastline in the Mar Menor and the Mediterranean.
The water sports in which courses are offered include sailing, kayaking, kite-surfing and jet-ski, and also available are nautical camps, special activity days for groups and schools, jet-ski trips and flyboarding.
