ARCHIVED - Alcantarilla mural by British graffiti artist nominated for prestigious award
18 graffiti murals in Spain have been nominated for the “world’s best mural” title
A mural painted by London artist Dale Grimshaw during the Hip-hop Culture and Art Festival in Murcia last October has been nominated as the “best mural in the world” by the graffiti community Street Art Cities.
In total, 100 murals have been selected and users of Steet Art Cities can vote for their favourite piece. In addition to the mural in Alcantarilla, there are also 17 other graffiti pieces in Spain which have made the top 100.
Mr Grimshaw, who was born in Lancashire, is known for his representations of tribal people, mostly from west Papua New Guinea, and he has two other murals in the Region of Murcia: one in the capital city, at the Federation of Metal Entrepreneurs of the Region of Murcia, and another in the municipality of Los Alcázares.
He has painted high-quality street art pieces across the world using a combination of spray paint and airbrushes and he also paints studio pieces which have been displayed in prestigious galleries in cities such as London, Paris and New York.
