ARCHIVED - Amber Heard seeks Spanish solitude after infamous legal battle with Johnny Depp
The actress is renting a luxury mansion in the small Mallorca town of Costitx

Aquaman star Amber Heard was pictured on a rare outing to the beach in Palma de Mallorca this week, accompanied by a pal believed to be ex-business partner Bianca Butti. Heard has shied away from the spotlight since her high-profile, multi-million dollar defamation case with her now ex-husband Johnny Depp and has chosen the sleepy island town of Costitx as her new haunt.
Even though several UK news outlets claim the blonde beauty is holidaying in Spain, Mallorca locals have set the record straight, explaining that she has been living in the town “for months without anyone knowing it”. According to residents, Heard has rented a 2.8-million-euro luxury villa, where she now lives with her daughter Oonagh Paige and several staff.
“She’s like one of the others, she buys fruit and vegetables, she speaks Spanish with a Mexican accent and she’s very polite,” shopkeeper Miguel said, adding that she brings her toddler to nursery school every day and is often seen mixing with the other parents and children in a nearby playground.
Located in the centre of the island, Costitx has a population of just 1,270 inhabitants and the locals are known for keeping themselves to themselves. Heard is renting a lavish mansion in the historic centre of the town, which was advertised for sale until she recently took over the lease.
Measuring 479 square metres, the luxury chalet features an infinity pool with stunning views of the locality, a cinema and top-of-the-range smart electronic systems.
The 36-year-old actress has filed two lawsuits against Pirates of the Caribbean star Johnny Depp, one in the UK and one in the US. She is currently back in the courts with new lawyers in an attempt to force two insurance companies to pick up her trial bills.
After months of court battles, Heard was ordered to pay Depp 10 million dollars in damages in June.
