AndalucÃa weather forecast June 18-21: Heat intensifies with temperatures pushing into the 40s
Mostly clear skies and rising heat across the region, with storms possible in the mountains and dusty air arriving from the east
If this week has felt warm across Andalucía, the weekend takes things up a notch. Temperatures have been climbing steadily since Monday, and this four-day stretch looks set to deliver some of the hottest conditions of the year so far, particularly in the Guadalquivir Valley. A few storms are still possible in the mountains on Thursday and Friday, but for the most part it is dry, sunny and increasingly intense.Thursday June 18
Andalucía temperatures, Thursday June 18A mostly clear and sunny day, though cloud will build during the afternoon in the Sierra Morena mountains, with the chance of occasional showers and thunderstorms developing. Temperatures stay much the same as Wednesday. Seville is under a yellow heat warning with highs of 38°C, while Jaén reaches 37°C. Winds are light and variable, with moderate easterlies along the eastern Mediterranean coast and around the Strait of Gibraltar, keeping Tarifa breezy as ever.
Friday June 19
Andalucía temperatures, Friday June 19The heat warnings remain in place for Seville, Jaén and Córdoba. Skies are partly cloudy with intervals of high cloud, and the mountains see more cloud building through the day, bringing another chance of showers and thunderstorms, particularly in the eastern ranges. Temperatures barely shift across the region. Winds stay light and variable, turning moderate at times in the afternoon. A warm and sticky day for Huelva and the Atlantic coast, with little breeze to bring much relief.
Saturday June 20
Andalucía temperatures, Saturday June 20Largely clear to partly cloudy skies, with temperatures now rising more noticeably, especially for the afternoon highs. There is dust in suspension across the far east of the region, which may give the sky a hazy look around Almería. Winds remain light and variable. Cádiz and the coast see slightly more comfortable conditions, though it is still very warm.
Sunday June 21
Andalucía temperatures, Sunday June 21Midsummer's Day and it feels the part. Skies stay partly cloudy to clear, with more dusty haze in the far east and temperatures climbing further, with Córdoba potentially touching 42°C. Málaga and Granada also see rising maximums, while conditions elsewhere hold steady. Winds are light and variable, with moderate north-easterly gusts picking up along the eastern Mediterranean coast through the day.
A punishing end to the week for parts of the interior, and with Midsummer's Day falling on Sunday, it is worth keeping an eye on the heat warnings and staying well hydrated if you are heading outdoors.
