AndalucÃa unveils largest nativity in world, made entirely of chocolate
Created by famed pastry chefs, the Córdoba Christmas wonder is made from 1,500 kilos of chocolate
If you’re looking for a sweet way to celebrate the Christmas season then head to Rute, a charming little town in Córdoba, where you’ll find an extraordinary festive attraction: the world’s largest nativity scene made entirely of chocolate.
This unique masterpiece is a testament to Andalucían artistry, craftsmanship and Christmas cheer and draws thousands of awed visitors every year.
Created by the renowned Galleros Artesanos pastry chefs, this nativity scene spans an incredible 52 square metres, making it the largest of its kind in the world. What makes it even more impressive is the 1,500 kilos of chocolate used to mould every intricate detail. From figures and houses to monuments and streets, everything is crafted with precision and a touch of sweetness.
This year’s theme is a delightful mix of classic and modern fairy tales, adding a whimsical twist to the traditional nativity setup. Alongside the beloved characters of the nativity - Mary, Joseph, baby Jesus and the Three Wise Men - you’ll find enchanting figures from well-known children’s stories.
Six master pastry chefs dedicated countless hours to creating this breathtaking display, blending artistry and confectionery skill. The scene features more than a hundred figures, each exuding charm and character, and its rich chocolate aroma is sure to delight visitors of all ages.
The chocolate nativity scene is open to visitors until January 5, 2025, with viewing hours from 10am to 1.30pm and 4pm to 7pm. It’s closed on Christmas Day and New Year’s Day, with morning hours only on December 24, 31 and January 5. Entry costs just 1.50 euros, refundable upon purchase within the facilities and children under 4 can enter for free.
After enjoying this chocolate marvel, immerse yourself in Rute’s festive spirit by visiting the Turrón Museum or taking a tour of the local anise factory, where you can taste this traditional Christmas drink.
