AndalucÃa's last long weekends of 2026, including a four day break in December
Three holiday stretches are coming before the year is out, with the biggest one landing just before Christmas
Workers across Andalucía have three decent breaks to look forward to before 2026 wraps up, thanks to the region’s habit of shifting Sunday holidays onto the following Monday. Between 2 November and 31 December, that bit of calendar housekeeping turns what could have been single days off into proper long weekends, something the region’s tourism sector is already welcoming, with hopes of strong bookings in both rural areas and provincial capitals as the pre-Christmas shopping season gets underway. All Saints’ long weekend
First up is All Saints’ Day. It falls on Sunday 1 November this year, so the regional government has moved the holiday to Monday 2 November instead, giving residents a three day break running from Saturday 31 October through to that Monday.
The big one in December
The standout break of the year comes in early December. Constitution Day falls on Sunday 6 December, so that holiday shifts to Monday 7 December, and it’s immediately followed by the Feast of the Immaculate Conception on Tuesday 8 December. Together, that creates a four day stretch from Saturday 5 December to Tuesday 8 December, ideal for anyone fancying a short trip away without eating into their annual leave.
A Christmas bonus
Christmas Day itself falls on a Friday this year, which naturally extends into a three day weekend running from Friday 25 December to Sunday 27 December, giving families a proper run at their Christmas celebrations without needing to book extra time off.
Looking ahead to 2027
The 2027 calendar has already been confirmed, and it’s shaping up to be even more generous. The regional government is once again shifting Sunday holidays to the Monday, this time affecting Andalucía Day and the Assumption of the Virgin, which creates four separate three day weekends across the year: New Year’s from Friday 1 January to Sunday 3 January, Andalucía Day from Saturday 27 February to Monday 1 March, the Assumption in August from Saturday 14 August to Monday 16 August, and All Saints’ from Saturday 30 October to Monday 1 November.
Holy Week brings a four day block too, running from Maundy Thursday 25 March through to Sunday 28 March, while October’s National Day on Tuesday 12 October means anyone willing to take the Monday before as a single day off can stretch their break all the way back to Saturday 9 October.
The real prize, though, comes right at the end of the year. Constitution Day falls on Monday 6 December, with the Immaculate Conception landing on Wednesday 8 December. Take just one extra day off on the Tuesday in between, and you’re looking at five consecutive days off, from Saturday 4 December through to Wednesday 8 December, making it comfortably the longest break on next year’s calendar.
