ARCHIVED - Andalusia weather forecast June 13-19: Widespread orange and yellow alerts for extreme heat
The heatwave will continue in the south of Spain this week, but should begin to creep away at the weekend
Weather warnings in Andalucía
The heatwave that is scorching Spain will not let up this week, with meteorologists expecting the 40ºC+ temperatures to remain until Friday in some parts. In Andalucía, almost all the inland areas will be on yellow and orange alert until at least Wednesday June 15, including Seville, Cordoba and Jaén.
Last week, it was revealed that 2021 was the 11th warmest year since 1961 in Spain, with the record temperatures of 47.4ºC being the highest ever recorded in the country – in Cordoba no less!
Along the coast this week, including along the Costa del Sol, the Costa de Almeria, the Costa Tropical and the Costa de la Luz, there will not be weather warnings but temperatures will still be swelteringly hot.
It will max out at 44ºC once again in the mountains of Cordoba on Tuesday and Wednesday, and minimum temperatures will also be high, not dropping below 17ºC until Friday, even at night-time, which will continue to make getting to sleep a chore.
From Saturday, though, minimums will have fallen to 13ºC and the most extreme heat will begin to abate, with highs of around 30ºC in the majority of places in Andalucía.
We are not currently in a drought situation and authorities have not yet announced a hosepipe bam, but the fact that extreme weather events are becoming more common has led scientists to predict that droughts will become more intense and frequent until the end of the 21st century.

- Monday June 13: Min 19ºC; Max 42ºC
- Tuesday June 14: Min 19ºC; Max 44ºC
- Wednesday June 15: Min 20ºC; Max 44ºC
- Thursday June 16: Min 17ºC; Max 42ºC
- Friday June 17: Min 15ºC; Max 41ºC
- Saturday June 18: Min 13ºC; Max 37ºC
- Sunday June 19: Min 12ºC; Max 37ºC
