ARCHIVED - Antigen tests must be taken within 24 hours of entry to Spain
As of February 1, only fully vaccinated tourists from the UK are permitted entry to Spain
From Tuesday February 1, anyone presenting a rapid antigen test to gain entry to Spain must have obtained the negative result within 24 hours of arrival, rather than the previously agreed 48 hours. PCR tests can still be taken within 72 hours of arrival to Spain.
Fully vaccinated tourists can still enter Spain freely from today once they can show proof of having their second jab (or one in the case of the Janssen mono-dose vaccine) administered between 14 and 270 days of travel. Anyone over the age of 12 with Covid passports older than nine months will from now on be considered essentially unvaccinated and will instead have to get a booster dose to come to Spain.
On January 26, the Foreign, Common and Development office (FCDO) issued a new warning to Britons planning travel to Spain:
"You must show valid proof of being fully vaccinated (with both doses of a two-dose vaccine or one dose of a one-dose vaccine) at least 14 days prior to arrival in Spain.
"If you completed your vaccination (with both doses of a two-dose vaccine or one dose of a single-dose vaccine) more than 270 days prior to travel to Spain, you must be able to show proof of having received a booster jab."
Vaccination dates must be clearly stated on Covid passports.
The travel industry has warned that the new measures could have a devastating effect on Spain’s tourism sectors, with many British families forced to cancel holidays since their teenage children have yet to be double jabbed.
Paul Charles, chief executive The PC Agency, said: “The 12 to 17-year-old age group has suffered disproportionately. That’s why so many family holidays have been cancelled.
