ARCHIVED - April 21 to 23 Sport 4 Cancer Mar Menor Games Los Alcazares
The sporting event will have more than 10,000 participants and more than 120 different disciplines that will hold championships and exhibitions in the different municipalities of the Mar Menor
Los Alcázares will be one of the venues for 'Sport4Cancer Mar Menor Games', an international sporting event that will be held from April 20 to 23 in the municipalities of the Mar Menor.
The event organized by the University of Murcia and the Union of Sports Federations of the Region of Murcia and co-financed by the European Union will have the participation of 12 delegations from European countries, such as France, Turkey, Germany or Croatia, among others.
"It will be a great sporting event that will take place, among other municipalities, in Los Alcázares, where we have the ideal weather and logistical conditions for holding major events like this one," explained the Councillor for Sports, Pedro Pascual Lamas.
'Sport4cancer Mar Menor Games' has as its main objective this year to raise awareness among the population of the importance of doing sports to prevent cancer as well as to help recover after overcoming one of these episodes. It will also have an inclusive role, showing and giving visibility to different disciplines developed by people with different abilities.
"It is a very important event because it will attract more than 10,000 athletes and 120 different disciplines to the Mar Menor, but also because it does so for charitable purposes, since it will be held in favor of the Never Surrender and Aladina foundations, and the Spanish Association against Cancer," underlined the mayor of Los Alcázares, Mario Pérez Cervera.
Duathlon, Beach Soccer, Rugby, Archery and many other disciplines in Los Alcázares
Los Alcázares will host the school duathlon in the vicinity of the La Torre soccer field, the Spanish Wrestling and Adapted Wrestling Championship, the Yawara Spanish Cup and the Hanminjok Spain Open with international presence of Korean athletes in different pavilions of the municipality.
A Kart circuit will also be created in collaboration with Go-Karts Mar Menor in the Plaza del Espejo where everyone can participate and the proceeds will go entirely to the Aladina Foundation.
The Amazon Archery Tournament will be held on Las Salinas beach, in which more than 200 athletes affected by breast cancer and ACD (Acquired Brain Injury) athletes will participate.
Las Salinas beach will also host, due to its characteristics and infrastructures adapted to animals, activities such as the Agility exhibition or Horse Riding with jumping.
The beaches of Los Alcázares will also host during those days championships and exhibitions of other disciplines such as Beach Rugby, Beach Hockey, Beach Baseball, and Beach Soccer.
