ARCHIVED - Easter week closes in Murcia with soaring temperatures: weather outlook April 13-16
Yellow weather alerts are in place in Murcia on April 14 but the mercury will soar to 28ºC at the end of the week
After two years without parades and traditional Holy Week celebrations, the week so far has been marred by unsettled weather that has threatened to put a dampener on the festivities. And the situation is set to remain unsettled as from Wednesday April 13 an Atlantic front will sweep across Spain from west to east, leaving in its wake heavy rainfall and even storms in places.
Wednesday March 13
Mid-week promises “scattered and localised showers throughout the regional territory,” according to Aemet, but the forecast will improve considerably as the week moves on, bringing more spring-like weather.
Thursday April 14
The last effects of the storm are likely to be felt on Thursday, particularly in the morning, which will dawn cloudy and overcast in much of the Region.
Aemet has issued a yellow weather warning for the Campo de Cartagena and Mazarrón, for strong gusts and waves of up to three metres between 4am and 8pm.
In the rest of Murcia the weather will remain stable with maximum temperatures of 20ºC.
Friday April 15
Once that storm moves away from the coast, it will give way to an anticyclone, which will settle the weather for the most part, although early morning showers can’t be ruled out in Cartagena. Night-time temperatures will reach a maximum of 12ºC.
No weather warnings are in place.
Saturday April 16
Saturday will be a little cloudy but there is only a slight chance of occasional and isolated showers. Day-time temperatures will rise significantly with highs of 28ºC expected in the municipality of Murcia, while the thermometers will tip 26ºC in Caravaca de la Cruz and Yecla. The mercury won’t reach these heights along the coast, but Cartagena and Lorca can still expect a warm day.
