ARCHIVED - Flight chaos as Alicante-bound easyJet flight forced to divert to France
The easyJet flight was diverted after it left Belfast en route to Alicante
Holidaymakers suffered unwelcome delays this week when an easyJet flight destined for Alicante was diverted to France after a medical emergency was declared on board.
The flight had departed from Belfast in Northern Ireland for Spain on Tuesday May 3 but when a passenger became seriously ill and required medical attention, the pilot had no choice but to review his route and land in Brest in France.
The passenger was met by health workers when the flight landed but his condition is currently unknown. It is understood that the remaining passengers were delayed for around two hours in France before the plane resumed its flight to Alicante.

An easyJet spokesperson said: “easyJet can confirm that flight EZY6701 from Belfast to Alicante diverted to Brest due to a passenger on board requiring urgent medical assistance.
“Paramedics met the aircraft on arrival in Brest and the flight is due to continue to Alicante.
“The safety and wellbeing of our customers and crew is our highest priority.”
Passengers travelling to Alicante have been facing an unlucky streak: last month, a Ryanair flight from Glasgow to the Spanish holiday hotspot was diverted to Manchester Airport a short time before taking off when another medical emergency was declared.
