The European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC) has confirmed the suspected salmonella poisoning in Spain in its latest report; this is added to the 31 cases that are under investigation in the European Union and the 54 already confirmed.
Last week, the Spanish Agency for Food Safety and Nutrition (Aesan) ordered the withdrawal of certain batches of Kinder products manufactured in Belgium after being informed by the European Commission Services, through the European Food Alert Network (RASFF), of an outbreak of food poisoning in several countries caused by monophasic Salmonella Typhimurium.
