ARCHIVED - Spain to vaccinate entire population with fourth Covid dose
The second booster will “probably” be given in the autumn when a new batch of vaccines is scheduled to arrive in Spain
Spain’s Minister of Health Carolina Darias announced on Thursday June 16 that the entire population will be offered a fourth Covid vaccination. The date for the roll-out hasn’t yet been specified but it will likely begin in the autumn, coinciding with new serums designed to protect against the more virulent coronavirus variants.
The Ministry last week confirmed that a second booster would be administered to people over the age of 80 who are being hit hard by the latest wave, and Catalonia suggested that communities begin administering the fourth jab alongside the flu vaccination, which has produced very good results in the past.
“There will be a fourth dose for the entire population, this is what the Public Health Commission has decided, what remains is to decide when,” Ms Darias confirmed today.
