ARCHIVED - Travellers from Ireland to Spain subject to strict rules
Only fully vaccinated passengers will be allowed entry into Spain

Many Irish holidaymakers hoping to spend their Christmas in Spain have been dealt a crushing blow this week as the government has announced that its strict travel rules will remain in place for the entirety of the festive season. This means that travellers arriving in Spain from high-risk countries – including Ireland – will only be permitted entry if they can show proof of being double vaccinated against Covid.
Spanish health authorities have now updated the risk list to include Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Czechia, Cyprus, Croatia, Denmark, Germany, Slovenia, Estonia, Finland, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Iceland, Italy, Slovakia, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Norway, the Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Romania and Sweden.
All passengers arriving from these countries will be allowed entry to Spain once they are double jabbed and will not be subject to any additional tests or quarantine requirements. Each traveller must complete the Health Control Form prior to departure and obtain a FAST CONTROL QR code to present at the boarding gate.
In addition, all those over the age of 12 arriving from the UK for tourism purposes must also have been immunised with one of the vaccines authorised by the European Medicines Agency or the World Health Organisation 14 days prior to their arrival. The British government has confirmed this week that Covid passports are now available for all double jabbed children aged between 12 and 15.
The following vaccines are suitable for travel to Spain
- Pfizer/BioNTech
- Moderna
- AstraZeneca
- Johnson & Johnson (Janssen)
- Sinovac
- Sinopharm
