ARCHIVED - Urgent recall of Lidl, Aldi and Mercadona ice-cream in Spain
Consumers who have purchased any of the affected batches in Spain have been warned not to eat them
The Ministry of Consumption has ordered the recall of batches of certain brands of ice-cream for sale in Lidl, Aldi and Mercadona because of the presence of “foreign bodies.” The contamination was first discovered in Catalonia and supermarkets across Spain have begun removing the products from their shelves.

The affected ice-cream is from the EPIRAL de Hacendado range. Here are the batches in question:
Aldi
The Spanish Agency for Food Safety and Nutrition (Aesan) has warned of the presence of foreign bodies in several batches across two different product ranges. One is the Strawberry and Lemon Chupy Fresh ice-pop and the second is the Chupy Cola/Vanilla/Strawberry variety. Below are the contaminated batches:
Lidl
In the case of Lidl, one of the German supermarket’s biggest sellers has been affected: the 7-pack of Eclipse ice-creams. The following batches should be avoided:
What should I do if I have one of the compromised ice-creams?
The experts have pointed out that only certain batches of the four ice-lolly brands are affected, so consumers should check the packaging carefully as many of the products are perfectly fine to eat.
However, the Aesan website says that: "It is recommended that people who have products affected by this alert, refrain from consuming them and return them to the point of purchase."
