ARCHIVED - Bankia app to be shut down on November 12
Some services will be interrupted for a few days as customers in Spain are moved over to Caixabank’s app
The merger between Caixabank and Bankia in Spain has brought many changes, one of the most important of which will occur on November 12 when the old Bankia app is eliminated, to be replaced by the CaixaBankNow platform. While the new system promises to have lots of useful features, customers have been informed that Bizum, the popular service used to transfer money between banks, will no longer be operational.
Bizum will cease working for ecommerce at 9am on Thursday November 11; for all customers, the system on the Bankia app will go down at 3pm on November 12. However, come November 14, former Bankia customers will all have been moved to the new Caixabank app and Bizum will once again work normally.
According to official data, more than a million Bankia customers use the mobile banking app and although service will be interrupted for a few days, Caixabank will carry out all the necessary work so that their clients can automatically be moved to the new system without having to actually do anything.
Customers have, however, been asked to ensure that their personal data is correct to ensure a smooth transition, and have assured that the same password can be used to access the new digital banking app.
