ARCHIVED - Barack Obama and Steven Spielberg jet to Spain for Bruce Springsteen concert
The high-profile pair will attend the gig in Barcelona on Friday April 28
Hollywood director Steven Spielberg and former US president Barack Obama will attend the Bruce Springsteen concert in Barcelona together this coming Friday (April 28). The high-profile pair are long-time pals and will be joined at the gig by their wives, actress Kate Capshaw and Michelle Obama.
Barack and Bruce also go back a long way, and the former president is frequently seen at his concerts.
‘The Boss’ will headline two concerts at the Estadi Olímpic in the Catalan capital, the second of which will take place on Sunday April 30, after a seven-year absence.
The Obamas are planning a whistle-stop trip to Spain: according to official sources, they’ll arrive the day before the gig and stay in a city centre hotel before jetting back to the States on Saturday April 29.
Even though this is a private mini-break taken in the former president’s free time, the safety of the Obamas while in Spain is a priority. The Catalunya police force, the Mossos d'Esquadra, has had extensive communication with Barack’s private security service and several Catalan police officers will be assigned to their protection detail during the visit.
The Springsteen concerts in Barcelona kick off the latest European tour of the American musician, which will visit cities such as Dublin (Ireland), Paris (France), Ferrara, Rome (Italy), Amsterdam, Landgraaf (Holland), Zurich (Switzerland), Gothenburg (Sweden), Oslo (Norway), Copenhagen (Denmark), Düsseldorf, Hamburg, Munich, (Germany), Vienna (Austria) and Monza (Italy).
This tour marks the return of Bruce Springsteen and The E Street Band live, since their 14-month world tour 'The River Tour' ended in Australia in February 2017.
