ARCHIVED - Barcelona man goes viral for sitting in the road after a bus driver refuses to open the door
The passenger blocked the road and prevented the bus from moving forward
Public transport in Spain can try the patience of anyone and we all know the feeling of missing a bus right before some important errand. This was the case with one young Barcelona man, images of whom have gone viral this week over what should have been a simple journey. When the driver refused to open the doors, the would-be passenger unceremoniously sat in the middle of road, preventing the vehicle from travelling on.
One bemused onlooker posted the photo on social media and it has since gone viral, amassing more than 30,000 ‘likes’. The Twitter user posted an update a short time later, explaining that the bus driver simply changed lanes when it was safe to do so and went on his way, thus ending the “performance.”

The driver also reportedly took a photo from inside the bus which he too posted, but later restricted access to his account.
The incident occurred on Sunday morning, April 17 between the intersection of calles Mallorca and Padilla. According to the security regulations of Transports Metropolitans de Barcelona (TMB), bus drivers can only open their doors at official stops.
