ARCHIVED - Bring out the brollies: Spain weather forecast Oct 17-20
Spain is in store for a dreary, wet few days
It’s been a funny old week weather-wise in Spain that’s perhaps typical of autumn. There were days marked by torrential rain and floods that literally washed away cars and anything that wasn’t nailed down, followed by a weekend that was positively summer-like, with temperatures not dipping below the mid-20s for the most part.
We’re still mid-October, though, and this week is likely to give us a much more autumnal feel with plummeting temperatures and widespread showers.
Monday October 17
It will be a dreary start to the day up north, where showers and even isolated storms will predominate. In the rest of the country, Monday is likely to have an overcast start which should clear as the day moves on, giving way to mostly clear skies and temperatures remaining in the mid to high 20s along much of the Mediterranean coast.
Tuesday October 18
Galicia in the far north is the only region that remains on high alert for rains and storms on Tuesday. For everywhere else in mainland Spain, the day is expected to begin a little cloudy, clearing again as the morning moves on.
Some early haze is not ruled out in the south of the country and the Balearic and Canary Islands. A little morning fog may also form in the Ebro, eastern Catalonia, areas of the Valencian Community and the Balearic Islands.
Daytime temperatures will be on the rise for the most part, reaching a sizzling 31ºC in Murcia.
Wednesday October 19
A big change is expected on Wednesday, when a new weather front will put five northern municipalities on alert for strong wind and rough sea conditions. Along the Mediterranean coast, the day is likely to be overcast or at least slightly cloudy for the most part, but the extreme south should escape the worst of the weather.
There will be little change to the temperatures on Wednesday, although the mercury is set to drop in the west and inland.
Thursday October 20
The Atlantic low front will create a mostly cloudy morning on Thursday, with some locally strong and intense showers in northern areas of Aragon and Catalonia.
There’s no rain forecast along the Mediterranean coast, though the day still promises to be mostly cloudy.
Daytime temperatures will see a notable decrease, while the night will also be much cooler in most of Spain.
