Brit among 6 arrested in Ibiza for dodging 12k restaurant bill
The 77-year-old Briton and his female accomplices now face fraud charges in Spain
An elderly British man is among a group of six arrested by the National Police in Ibiza for attempting to pull off a very pricey ‘dine and dash’ scam.
The 77-year-old Briton joined a table of women, all aged between 24 and 39, at an up-market eatery and proceeded to order some of the most expensive food and drink on the menu. Once the bill arrived, totalling a staggering 12,300 euros, the group refused to pay, claiming that it had already been taken care of by a seventh member of their party.
The generous host, who was allegedly the one to make the reservation, had reportedly left the restaurant moments before the waiter presented the expensive bill.
When the group continued to refuse to cough up, the staff phoned the National Police, who quickly arrived at the restaurant to question the remaining guests. Not satisfied with their excuses, all six were arrested. The women are from Argentina, Poland and Greece.
The dodgy diners now face accusations of fraud.
