British paedophile, 68, arrested in Cartagena
Murcia police have arrested a fugitive wanted in the United Kingdom for sexual abuse of minors
Spanish police officers have arrested a 68-year-old British man in Cartagena (Murcia) who had an International Arrest and Extradition Warrant issued against him by the National Crime Agency of the United Kingdom for several crimes of sexual abuse of minors, which he allegedly committed in 2021 in the UK.
The man fled the UK three years ago after his underage victims came out and accused him of sexual abuse. He has been wanted by the NCA ever since and, thanks to collaborative sharing of information between British and Spanish law enforcement, they recently discovered that he was hiding out in Cartagena.
Acting on the arrest warrant, Spain’s National Police detained the man at his home in Cartagena and he has now been transferred to the Central Court of Instruction in Madrid where they will process the extradition order to send him back to Britain to face justice.
Two weeks ago, a British drug smuggler wanted in UK was arrested in Torre Pacheco and a Belgian man on Camposol was recently given two and a half years in prison for possessing and distributing paedophile material. Last year, another British paedophile was sentenced to 133 years behind bars in Benidorm.
