British tourist, 34, injured after falling 50ft at a resort in Magaluf
The woman had been drinking before falling backwards over a wall on a night out
A British woman has been left seriously injured after falling backwards down a 50ft embankment in Majorca, Spain. The tourist had been drinking during a night out in Magaluf when she fell from a wall she had been resting upon.
It has been confirmed by local reporters that the woman was drunk when she fell on Tuesday night. The unnamed Brit was rescued by the police and firefighters.
The woman was then rushed to a private hospital in Palma where her injuries were assessed. The extent of her injuries at this moment are unknown. It has been reported that the woman was with her sister and two female friends at the time of the incident.
The accident follows a number of holiday tragedies this month. A 28-year-old Brit was killed in a 15ft fall at a hotel in Palmanova near Magaluf on August 17. Just three days later another teenage holidaymaker plunged to her death from the sixth floor of a hotel in Ibiza.
After repeated deaths and accidents caused by Brits drinking abroad, some tourist hotspots are hitting back.
Ibiza and Majorca have enforced alcohol bans between certain hours in stag-do and tourist hotspots known for excessive drinking.
The sale of alcohol is banned between 9.30pm and 8am in “excessive tourism” areas like Palma and Magaluf in Majorca and San Antonio in Ibiza.
