British woman stabs herself at Ibiza airport
The woman had bought a pair of scissors minutes earlier from a shop inside the airport
A 54-year-old British woman is in critical condition in the ICU of Can Misses Hospital in Ibiza, Spain after she stabbed herself in the departure lounge of Ibiza Airport this Sunday, June 23.
According to local media reports, the woman bought a pair of scissors at the airport and used them to stab herself minutes later, even before she left the airport shop.
Guardia Civil Spanish police officers at the airport intervened to help the British woman, who was bleeding out on the floor in front of the rest of the shoppers and passengers.
According to the Pitiusa Health Department in Ibiza, the woman arrived in an ambulance to Accident & Emergency room of the Can Misses Hospital at 11.53am.
She was initially kept under observation until she was admitted to the ICU.
The incident comes just three days after flights at Ibiza airport had to be suspended when a drunk passenger on a Ryanair flight falsely claimed to be carrying a bomb.
