Camposol Library gets a lovely new mural by local teen artist
Local lad Luca has lightened up the library with a roundly praised work of art
Camposol’s Gardening & Community Group Library have commissioned local art student Luca Gardiner to liven up the recently refurbished outside of the library cabin in the car park on Sector A with a stunning mural.Luca spent the whole of Saturday January 18 performing his street art magic á la Banksy. The result has garnered admiration and approval from the whole community; to date there are nearly a hundred ‘likes’ on the group’s Facebook feed and over thirty very positive comments.
Library co-ordinator Fran said, “We are delighted with Luca’s mural that will hopefully attract more people to utilise the library and act as an easily seen beacon to advertise the library’s presence.”
The library exists to provide funds to the Los Palacios Gardening Group, which they use to keep sector A looking great throughout the year. All books are donated from within the wider expat community.
As well as books in English there are also sections in German, Dutch, French and other languages. Borrowers are encouraged to make a minimal donation of 2 euros for three books. The library is open every Friday morning and Fran is always keen to hear from people who wish to be volunteer assistants.
Luca, who lives on Camposol, is 17 years old and has recently started Art at college. He is hoping to make a future career in the discipline, and judging by this spectacular example he will certainly be a success.
