Today, the Casas de las Artes is located in a noble señorial house, built in a typical baroque style, in the first half of the eighteenth century for the Marín-Barnuevo family. This ancestral home has very decorative iron grills and balconies as well as two carved coats of arms ( escudos)which decorate the front of the house. One coat of arms has emblems from Beatriz Ruiz-Dávalos and Marín-Blaquéz family, from the female line, and the other is the coat of arms of Diego Marín- Blaquéz and Matheos de Montalván.
In the nineteenth century, the house was the residence of Diego Marín Barnuevo who became a lifelong Senator (Senador Vitalicio).
Following renovation work, it became the present home of the Casas de las Artes and the School of Music, Conservatorio de Música Maestro Gómez Villa.
