Certamen de Folklore Villa de Blanca

Certamen de Folklore Villa de Blanca

Annual Folk Festival in Blanca

Folk music and dancing are essential core elements of the traditions and customs of Blanca and the Ricote Valley and Blanca has its own dedicated Folk Dancing and musical group, the Peña Huertana La Capaza, with music performed by the grupo de Coros y Danzas ‘Virgen de los Dolores’.

This group work to ensure that the traditions of music and dance are passed down from generation to generation and perform at local events and fiestas in Blanca as well as participating in folk dancing gatherings in other parts of the Region of Murcia Region and elsewhere.

Each year they hold their own Folklore Festival in Blanca with invited peñas participating, during which the Queens of the Peña who will represent the folk dancing traditions of the municipality at official events for the coming year are presented, and attendees can enjoy a night of music and dance.

This normally takes place in the municipal theatre in Blanca late Winter at the beginning of February at the end of the Fiestas of La Candelaria and entry is free, with a voluntary donation for local charities.
