From nativity scenes and concerts to workshops and guided tours, the Region of Murcia is packed with events this December

Christmas has arrived in the Region of Murcia with a packed calendar of events for all ages that aims to blend culture, entertainment and family-friendly activities.
From nativity scenes and carol festivals to concerts, theatre, workshops and exhibitions, there’s something for everyone to enjoy this Christmas season.
Here are some of the highlights:
Special visit to the Roman Theatre of Cartagena
Visitors can immerse themselves in Roman traditions and discover how Saturnalia was celebrated in ancient times. The tour through the Cartagena Museum reveals the city’s fascinating history from prehistory to the Roman era and ends at the Roman Theatre, where participants can perform a musical piece on traditional instruments to experience the venue’s acoustics.
Playmobil Nativity Scene in Bullas

The Bullas Cultural Centre is hosting the hugely popular Playmobil Nativity Scene covering more than 20 square metres. Free to enter, this detailed display is perfect for young children and families.
Navilandia at La Fica
From December 5 to January 6, La Fica fairgrounds host Navilandia, the Region’s most popular Christmas amusement park for children. Rides, lights, music, themed stalls and activities make it a highlight for the whole family.
Inauguration of the Garden of Dreams
The Malecón Garden opens its immersive and sensory experience featuring more than 12,000 metres of garlands. It’s ideal for a family visit or a festive evening for couples.
Swing Machine Orchestra in Águilas

On December 12, the Swing Machine Orchestra performs at the Auditorio Infanta Doña Elena. This retro-style Christmas concert is full of rhythm and charm and is one of the most anticipated musical events of the month.
Sand Nativity Scene in Plaza de la Paja, Murcia
A new Sand Nativity Scene will be inaugurated on December 21. Covering 30 square metres, it has been hand-sculpted by specialised technicians using 26 tonnes of sand. Children can also join workshops on December 19 and 20 to create their own sand figures.
The Nutcracker ballet in Águilas

On December 20, the Goyi Vera Dance School performs The Nutcracker at the Infanta Elena Auditorium. The performance begins at 8pm and tickets start from €8.
Murcia Christmas Fest: Christmas Carol Competition
The first edition of Murcia Xmas Fest combines tradition with local talent. Registration is open until November 30. Semifinals take place on December 12, 13, 19 and 20, with the grand final on December 27 at Avenida de la Libertad. Prizes include gift cards from El Corte Inglés.
Christmas stroll through Cehegín
On December 21, enjoy a free guided Christmas walk through the historic centre of Cehegín. Explore palaces, narrow streets, nativity scenes and churches while sampling traditional pastries. Comfortable clothing and footwear are recommended.
Special guided tour of Lorca Castle

Lorca Castle offers workshops for all ages, including a Christmas Guided Tour, Crumble Cookie Workshop, Christmas crafts and its third annual Ugly Sweater Party. The Lorca Time Workshop promises festive fun for everyone.
