Cleaning the Calima: Aguilas leads the way in Saharan dust street sweeping
The department of cleaning in Águilas has set up a special service due to the calima

In response, the Department of Cleaning of Águilas town hall has set up a special service in squares, promenades and parks to bring children’s playground equipment and street furniture back up to scratch and allow people to use it as soon as possible once the calima has passed.
As it is also the start of the new school year, they are also cleaning inside and outside state schools, whose playgrounds have been affected by the dust from the calima.

The local Councillor for Cleaning, Noelia Ruano, took the opportunity to ask the public for their cooperation in keeping the town in optimum conditions, reminding them that there is a WhatsApp number to report incidents (+34 659 94 98 36), to which they can send photos if they see rubbish on the public highway, and a number to coordinate the removal of furniture (+34 968 49 33 19).
She also pointed out that, in addition to the Ecoparque recycling point at the Polígono Industrial business park, there is a mobile recycling point which is present in Los Jardines on Mondays, next to the CEIP Las Lomas school on Wednesdays and in Calle Juan Gris in Calabardina on Fridays, for non-organic and special waste such as electrical appliances, fluorescent bulbs, computer equipment and batteries.
