Contract signed for Bolnuevo road redevelopment project
The construction of a roundabout will control traffic at an important intersection of four thoroughfares
The 'Mazarrón Urbano' redevelopment plan continues to move forward in the modernisation of numerous avenues, streets, squares and roads in the municipality. Among them is the intersection of Avenida Antonio Segado del Olmo and Calles Galera, Madre and Crucero in Bolnuevo, contracts have been signed and work will begin in the coming weeks.
Mazarrón Mayor, Ginés Campillo, has formalised the contract worth 590,047.99 euros with construction company Pavasal, who won the tender ahead of 6 other offers. The works, which have a completion period of 3 months, consists of the redevelopment of an important section of the avenue with the renewal of the pavement and curbs, widening and construction of new pavements adapted to pedestrian accessibility, general organisation of the area of parking, replacement of sanitation and drinking water services and the installation of new LED streetlights.
The project also addresses the solution to two traffic problems: Firstly, the connection between the avenue and the main Bolnuevo road, where the layout will be adjusted as much as possible within the available land; and secondly, the intersection between calles Galera, Madre and Crucero streets, an intersection with multiple entrances where conflicts are generated due to the various interpretations of traffic regulations. In this last point, it has been decided to build an oval roundabout for reasons of organisation and aesthetics.
