Corvera Airport still 18,000 passengers short of 2019 record
Murcia International handled almost 128,000 passengers in July, but numbers remain 12% below the same month in 2019 despite more flights

Corvera Airport is most certainly seeing more passengers and flights than it did a year ago, but the figures for the peak summer season are still well below the levels recorded before the pandemic.
The Region of Murcia International Airport handled 127,910 passengers in July, an increase of 3.3% compared with July last year. However, that was still 12% below the 145,286 passengers recorded in July 2019, when the airport was enjoying its strongest summer figures before the pandemic.
The latest figures mean Corvera was around 17,400 passengers short of its July 2019 total, despite operating almost exactly the same number of flights.
Of the passengers travelling on commercial flights in July, 112,152 were travelling internationally, while 15,109 were on domestic routes.
Domestic travel continues to show particularly strong growth, with the number of passengers flying within Spain up by 13.1% compared with July last year.
The airport handled 982 flights during the month, an increase of 10% compared with July 2025. That figure is also very close to the 989 flights recorded in July 2019, suggesting the gap in passenger numbers isn't simply down to fewer aircraft movements.
Looking at the figures for the year so far, Corvera Airport has handled 575,312 passengers between January and July, which is 9% more than during the same period last year.
However, the airport is still some way off its pre-pandemic performance. The total for the first seven months of 2019 was 632,753 passengers, meaning this year's figure remains around 10% lower.
International travel continues to account for the vast majority of passengers, with 505,704 people travelling to or from destinations outside Spain during the first seven months of the year. That's an increase of 7.5% compared with the same period in 2025.
Domestic passenger numbers have performed even better, rising by 17.5% year-on-year to 66,990.
There were 4,894 take-offs and landings between January and July, up 15.9% on the same period in 2025. Of these, 4,150 were commercial flights, including 3,402 international and 748 domestic operations.
The figures from Aena therefore paint a mixed picture for Corvera. The airport is handling more passengers and significantly more flights than it was a year ago, with domestic travel showing particularly strong growth.
However, despite the increase, passenger numbers have yet to return to the levels seen in 2019, with July's figures highlighting the gap during what should be the busiest part of the summer season.
