Click HereAs usual there is a full program of events going on in Águilas over the festive season, with plenty of entertainment at the Auditorio Infanta Doña Elena and other venues, music in the streets, activities for children and the all-important arrival of Father Christmas (on December 23) and the Three Kings, whose major parade takes place on the evening of 5th January.
This year the festive programme includes the following events:
Friday December 1
20.30: The 10th anniversary celebrations of the TEYDE arts, theatre and dance school in the Casa de la Cultura Francisco Rabal.
Saturday December 2
20.30: “Amistad”, Spanish theatre in the Auditorio Infanta Doña Elena.
Sunday December 3
9.00 to 14.00: Junk and second hand market in Residencial Los Jardines.

Tuesday December 5
17.00: The municipal “belén” or nativity scene is officially opened in the Águilas Plaza shopping centre.
18.00: The Christmas lights of Águilas are switched on and the Christmas tree is illuminated in the Plaza de España. Following the ceremony entertainment is provided by the musical “El Rock se Cuela en la Escuela”, also in the Plaza de España.
19.00: The switching on of the lights on the tree made from recycled plastic bottles in Plaza Antonio Cortijos.
Wednesday December 6
Constitution Day, a national holiday in Spain.
December 7 to 10
The Águilas Christmas market in the Plaza de España. Opening hours 11.00 to 14.00 and 17.00 to 20.00.
December 7 to 29
Exhibition by members of the Asociación José Matrán photography group, open at the Casa de la Cultura Francisco Rabal on weekdays from 18.00 to 21.00.
Friday December 8
The Day of the Immaculate Conception, a national holiday in Spain.
From 11.30: The Fiestas de la Purísima at the church of El Garrobillo, including the 26th annual tomato branch competition outside the church at 17.00.
20.00: Don Giovanni, the beloved and much-admired opera by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, at the Auditorio Infanta Doña Elena. Click here for further details.

12.30: “El Musical de los Niños”, children’s musical at the Auditorio Infanta Doña Elena.
December 11 to 22
Schoolchildren’s theatre cycle at the Casa de la Cultura Francisco Rabal.
Saturday December 16
11.00 to 14.00 and 17.00 to 20.00: Book fair on the pedestrian street of Calle Conde de Aranda.

9.30: Christmas fun run up to the castle from the starting point at the statue of Ícaro by the port of Águilas.

10.00: Traditional music and dancing from “cuadrilla” groups in the Plaza de España

17.00: Christmas gala featuring students at the Colegio Carlos V primary school at the Auditorio Infanta Doña Elena.
Tuesday December 19
17.00: Christmas gala featuring students at the Colegio Carlos V primary school at the Auditorio Infanta Doña Elena.
17.30: Schoolchildren’s Christmas songs in the Plaza de España.
Wednesday December 20
19.30: Terpsícore dance school Christmas show at the Auditorio Infanta Doña Elena.
Thursday December 21
11.00: The Christmas concert of the CEIP Mediterráneo primary school at the Auditorio Infanta Doña Elena.
17.00: Shop window Christmas display tour, visiting the establishments taking part.
Friday December 22
19.30: Choral concert in the Plaza de España.
20.30: The latest classical concert in the 2023-24 Promúsica cycle features recitals of pieces by Chopin and Rachmaninov.
Saturday December 23
18.30: Father Christmas is welcomed in the Plaza de España and entertainment is provided in the form of “El Taller de los Juguetes”, a children’s play.
Monday December 25, Christmas Day
The popular traditional Fiesta de Pascuas are held in the tiny hamlet of Cuesta de Gos, including Mass, a procession at 13.00 and dancing, a raffle and singing starting at 16.00.
Wednesday December 27
16.00 to 20.00: Barredora infantile, a children’s activity in the Plaza Gutiérrez Mellado.
Thursday December 28
The Fiesta de Los Inocentes in Cuesta de Gos, featuring Mass and a dance in which partners are auctioned off to the highest bidders at 17.00.
20.30: The Christmas concert of the Patronato Musical Aguileño at the Auditorio Infanta Doña Elena.
Friday December 29
11.00 to 15.00: A children’s zipline is set up in the Zona Forestal Explorador Felipe López.
19.00: “Érase una vez en el bosque”, a children’s musical at the Auditorio Infanta Doña Elena. Click here for further details.

12.00: New Year’s Eve party in the Plaza de España.
Tuesday January 2
20.30: The Promúsica New Year’s concert at the Auditorio Infanta Doña Elena.
January 3 to 30
An exhibition of work by Julio Monforte at the Casa de la Cultura Francisco Rabal, opening hours weekdays 18.00 to 21.00.
20.00: Theatre, a Christmas Carol at the Auditorio Infanta Doña Elena.
Thursday January 4
17.00 to 21.00: Painting, fun and games for children in the pedestrian street of Calle Conde de Aranda.
18.00: Children’s theatre, “La Ratita Presumida” at the Auditorio Infanta Doña Elena.
Friday January 5
At 11.00 the Three Kings arrive and set up camp in the pedestrian street of Calle Conde de Aranda.
19.00: Their Royal Majesties begin the “Cabalgata de los Reyes Magos” parade through the centre of Águilas, along Avenida Juan Carlos I to the Plaza de España.
Following the parade two bicycles are awarded to the lucky winners of a prize draw containing the names of those who have delivered present letters to the Three Kings.
Saturday January 6
10.30: A Three Kings Day cycle ride starting in the Plaza de España.
Friday January 12
20.30: The Nutcracker ballet at the Auditorio Infanta Doña Elena.
