Disappointing August for Murcia Corvera with just a fraction of total Spanish flights
The Region of Murcia International Airport welcomed just 0.4% of Spain’s total passenger numbers
Corvera airport’s popularity has been something of a roller coaster ride these past few years and after bumping up passenger numbers in July, the aerodrome has registered a disappointing August, handling just 120,962 passengers, which is an underwhelming 0.4% of the total visitors passing through Spanish airports last month.
This is also a dip of 0.3% compared to last August but the annual figures make for more promising reading: between January and August, 618,528 passengers walked through the terminal at the Region of Murcia International Airport (AIRM), which represents a 4.7% growth on the same period of 2022.
While traveller numbers might be up, so far this year the number of flights taking off from and landing at Corvera has also fallen slightly compared to 2022.
Coming back to August and the vast majority of passengers were international rather than domestic, with figures exceeding last year’s traffic by 1.3% with 105,526 travellers from Europe and further afield. On the flip side, visitors from other parts of Spain declined last month by a considerable 14.6% (14,375 domestic passengers).
Regarding overall operations, the Region of Murcia International Airport managed 793 movements in August, 3.2% less compared to last year's flights.
