Discover the Murcia town that is in the top 25 cheapest places to buy property in Spain
A new study of house prices in Spain has uncovered one Murcia municipality where you can buy a home for under 500 euros per square metre
Overall, the property market in Spain looks like it’s in for a bit of a dip this year which, with the rising cost of living elsewhere, is good news for property buyers looking to purchase a home in the southern European country. And, according to a new study of the cheapest places to buy property in Spain, there is one town in the Region of Murcia that comes in the top 25 for the lowest house prices per square metre.
The price report for the month of December 2022 by online real estate marketplace idealista found that the cheapest municipality in Spain is Alcaudete de la Jara in the province of Toledo, where homeowners ask for an average of 284 euros/m2.
After Alcaudete de la Jara, the other Spanish municipalities where house prices are below 400 euros per square metre are: Belmez in Cordoba (352 euros/m2); Fuente Obejuna in Cordoba (352 euros/m2); Villafranca del Cid in Castellón (353 euros/m2); Puerto Serrano in Cádiz (365 euros/m2); Almadén in Ciudad Real (370 euros/m2); El Carpio de Tajo in Toledo (383 euros/m2); and Malagón in Ciudad Real (398 euros/m2).
The only municipality in the Region of Murcia that slips into this list of the 25 cheapest municipalities to buy a house in Spain is Bullas, the charming wine-producing town in the north of the Region, where the average house price is 443 euros/m2.

The Tourist information office of the municipality of Bullas is located in the same building as the Museo del 
Vino, the Wine Museum, assisting in the promotion of the natural tourism of the area and specifically the wine produced in the area.
The Museo del Vino is a good place to start if you’re interested in visiting any of the Bullas Bodegas or sampling the DO Bullas wines.
D.O. Bullas wines are produced across an area of 5,500 hectares integrating 8 municipalities into the production of wine( Bullas, Cehegín, Mula, Pliego, Ricote, Calasparra, Caravaca, Moratalla and Lorca. The town achieved the D.O status (Denominación de Origen "Bullas",) in 1994.
The predominant grape variety is Monastrell, accounting for 80% of the total production of around 10 million litres per year, other varieties including Tempranillo, Macabeo, Airén, Cabernet Sauvignon, Sirah, Merlot and Garnacha.
The Museum of wine, (El Museo del Vino) is dedicated to the history of the production of D.O. Bullas wines, and also the techniques of winemaking. The museum runs a number of cultural activities throughout the year and exhibitions.
The Bullas tourist information office has maps, and information about the various Bodegas which sell directly to the public and can also help with local accommodation or restaurants.

On the first Sunday of the month at the El Zacatín market, from 9am to 2pm
