El Corte Inglés rivals Imserso with budget holidays for pensioners
Older customers can travel within Spain or further afield at seriously cheap prices

Every year, older people across Spain take advantage of the Imserso Tourism scheme, a brilliant initiative that offers pensioners the opportunity to book budget, off-peak holidays. But now there’s a new player in town to rival these bargain-basement vacations: El Corte Inglés.
Under the slogan ‘You deserve to travel no matter what’, Viajes El Corte Inglés has unveiled its new campaign aimed at travellers over 60, which includes national and international cultural tours, coastal stays, island trips, sea and river cruises and Christmas getaways.
According to a statement on the El Corte Inglés website, the new scheme offers benefits such as booking for as little as €14, free cancellation on selected trips, a €30 discount on a future trip, a raffle for trips to Egypt and the possibility of financing within six months.
Just like the Imserso trips, there are plenty of national and international destinations to choose from. Within Spain, holiday hotspots include Benidorm and Peñíscola, the islands (Tenerife, Lanzarote, Fuerteventura, Mallorca and Menorca), the peninsular coast and cultural tours through different regions of Spain (French Basque Country, Picos de Europa, Rías Baixas) with organised transport options from various cities, guides, tours and the possibility of accommodation only.
On the international scene, the highlights include tours to destinations such as Italy (the Amalfi Coast or Tuscany), Portugal, Egypt and Morocco, in addition to a range of sea and river cruises that allow you to explore the Mediterranean, northern Europe or the main European rivers.
For the winter and New Year's Eve season, Viajes El Corte Inglés offers getaways to the Christmas markets in Vienna (Austria), the lights in Vigo or a New Year's Eve with a difference in Marrakech (Morocco).
